The JCDC’s mission has always been to promote Jamaica internationally. The Performing Arts Competitions they’ve established help them fulfil that duty every year by showcasing the talents of both aspiring artists and seasoned pros to the people of Jamaica.
The highly anticipated JCDC Competitions experienced a significant downturn in face-to-face competitions during 2020 and 2021, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization is gearing up for the 2023 season of competitions and is encouraging Jamaicans of all ages to get ready for the staging.
JCDC’s creative writing competition will visit all parishes as an exhibition that will last until July of 2023. The showcase will include select pieces that stand out as exceptional.
In Jamaican culture, praise and worship are an essential part of daily life. At times, we are surrounded by voices that sound like those of angels. Sometimes, yes; other times, no. In the end, who will emerge as the most popular voice in Jamaica? It’s entirely up to you in this case.
Jamaican Folk Forms, the heart of our nation’s culture, are entrenched in our forefathers’ rites and traditions. The JCDC is vital to the survival of these folk forms, which would perish if not supported. These traditional forms are preserved in a variety of ways.

The JCDC extended the deadline for entrants to the Jamaica Festival Song Competition to March 18th, 2022. This year’s competition is part of a special Diamond Jubilee series of memorable events for Jamaica 60 Independence celebrations.
