The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sport, along with the Jamaica Post, have launched a commemorative stamp to add to Jamaica’s diamond jubilee celebrations. The stamps are available immediately at post offices island-wide.
For 2022, the World Blood Donor Day slogan is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives”. In recognition of this day, the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) and the Ministry of Health and Wellness opened a blood collection centre at the public Spanish Town Hospital. The new facility is expected to provide residents of St. Catherine, one of Jamaica’s largest parishes, with better access to a blood donation site.
Jamaican Folk Forms, the heart of our nation’s culture, are entrenched in our forefathers’ rites and traditions. The JCDC is vital to the survival of these folk forms, which would perish if not supported. These traditional forms are preserved in a variety of ways.
After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Judith Falloon-Reid is preparing to go on a multi-city tour with her Aaah-Inspiring Antarctica, A Jamaican on Ice Experience, which debuted to great acclaim at the National Library of Jamaica in March 2020. Malachi Smith, a dub poet, will join her.
Jamaica 60 was launched recently . Present during the launch was President of the Republic of Rwanda, His Excellency Paul Kagame.
Jamaica 60th Independence celebration was recently launched in Canada by Ministers Grange and Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett. During the launch, Minister Grange announced the lighting up of Niagara Falls.
Jamaica commemorates her 60th Independence with the launch of a 60th Logo Competition. Bobby Smith, a student of UWI Mona, won the competition with a prize of US$2,500.
