As much as we believe that women should be celebrated every single day. We will follow the rest of the world and put out this special greeting on this day.
It is written that in 1909 the first National Woman’s day was celebrated in the United States. Subsequently International Women’s day was created in Copenhagen the following year.
It is told though, that for millennia women have been celebrated throughout the African time line, and culture, as their worth was never looked down on, but elevated for birthing nations. In Jamaica, we recognize our women’s power, purpose, and potential by watching how they have lead our society. Weather formally or informally, every single man has a woman to celebrate and thank for his life.
So on this auspicious and internationally celebrated day we say, Thank you. Thank you to all the women whom we ow our life to. Even if you have not given birth, you, are our mothers, sisters, aunts, friends, and colleagues. We look to you women with admiration and support. May your actions continue to positively impact the lives of Jamaicans at home and abroad.
