Seprod supports JCF initiative in Westmoreland

SEPROD will be donating $400,000 worth of products to the Jamaica Constabulary (JCF) for distribution to approximately 100 families in need in Westmoreland.

“Building and preserving our communities is everyone’s business and we are happy that the JCF has taken the initiative to respond and are showing their commitment to not only protect but to serve,” Seprod said in a release.

The initiative followed the flare-up of violence which left seven dead and several injured in the Grange Hill section of the parish.

“These occurrences of violence leave a lasting impact on those affected and should be a matter of national concern. Seprod applauds the efforts of the constabulary to prompt this type of community engagement and their endeavour to provide relief and camaraderie to the impacted citizens and police personnel,” the release said.

The decision to assist the Westmoreland gun violence victims was initiated by the Kingston Eastern Division, in conjunction with Gary McKenzie, superintendent of police at the Westmoreland Division.

The handover of the products, Seprod said, was expected to culminate with a treat for residents and the police to help raise spirits and provide support.
