Last Saturday, the atmosphere of the Courthleigh Auditorium vibrated with excitement and anticipation at the beginning of the ceremony. This year was the fourth staging of QORIHC which aims to honour and recognize hard-working female industry players.
We are who we are today because of selfless many who toiled before us. These individuals envisioned life beyond oppression and slavery. Not only did they devote their lives to ensuring that their vision came to fruition, but some were also imprisoned while others were killed. Today we refer to these valiant individuals as our “heroes”.
Did you know that there was a time when Jamaica had more than 14 parishes? In fact, back then the number of parishes almost doubled what we have now!
Jamaica has moved from having no parishes before the British invasion to having a total of 22! That number, however, was reduced to 14 in 1867.
Climate change has implications on our lives but who knows how much? The CBD will focus specifically on the impact on the lives and earnings of Jamaican communities.
