Kelly Silvera is now general manager of the Jamaican arm of Toucan Ltd, an interactive advertising agency incorporated in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
She has 15 years’ experience in international media and has worked with the BBC, Channel 4, ITV and Sky News — all in the UK, as well as Al Jazeera in Qatar.
Silvera is the recipient of a number of awards and nominations for her work, among them: Royal Television Society award for Best Educational Documentary, the Huffington PostUltimate Media Game Changer Award, a Peabody Award for coverage of the 2011 Arab Spring and, more recently, in 2016, an international Emmy nomination for her coverage of the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake.
“Kelly brings a vibrant background to this role that will help to channel her knowledge and experiences into finding digital solutions and creating long-lasting partnerships with our clients.” said Douglas Ames, managing director, Toucan.
A Jamaican national, her return to the island sees her taking on the responsiblity of developing digital content for Toucan’s partners and ensure the application of technology to extract value for clients’ businesses. She will also “provide strategic counsel to account executives, the creative director and programming team for all web production and online advertising projects”, as stated on her LinkedIn page.
Of her return to the island, Kelly says, “It really is fantastic to be back home in Jamaica.”
